I'm an alcoholic

(Link)
I'm going to my first AA meeting Sunday. I'm originally from Chicago, married a Brit and live in a small villagein the UK. I have no one to talk to. My husband is in denial. He drinks like a fish. I'm cleaning up,,,with his support or not. But I think he's a jerk for just carrying on with his intense drinking.

I've tried to find support AA communitiies here in the UK (in LJ) and no matches.
I just need to speak to someone occasionally. I know I'm in for one hell of a ride.

Thanks for listening.

Don't be suprised if he never becomes supportive. Alcoholics are self-centered to the extreme. Good luck with your own recovery thou. :)

Re: I'm an alcoholic (ME TOO)

Hey Kristen, I was just lurking around the "sobriety" interest area...I am an alcoholic too. I have been sober for eight months. I belong to soberfreaks in LJ & just started posting. I am having a wonderful time in my recovery. I'm always interested in what is working, or not, for other people. I'm from Seattle and live in SE Georgia (talk about your culture shock!)
I'm online all day while I'm at work and will respond if you need to talk. I know this is a couple of months later, but I'd love to know how you're doing.

I have been a WILLING participant in A.A. for over 16 years! It may not be for everyone. Not everyone is willing or able to do the *deep work* to make use of the steps of A.A. It takes courage and daring to walk the depths of your soul so that you may come out whole. *You cannot soar to the heights util you have walked in the deep spaces.* T.Thorn Coyle Evolutionary Witchcraft.
Blessings and Peace to you whatever path you choose.
